Bircham Newton All Saints Church.

Bircham Newton All Saints Church, (Newton) a town near water. As a roundsman working in this area, I have passed this church umpteen times, on my visit at first I thought it closed and vandalised, with the latter I am still not sure, though it seems clean and tidy inside and is still in use. With its tall 13th century tower of Early English Period, it can be seen for miles. Even more so than the other churches in the Bircham area. Bircham Toffs with its overgrown.  tower, Great Bircham hidden in trees on a corner some couple of miles away and Docking. There are memories to a earlier day, days when the church would have been full to the brim, full of God fearing people sitting in its original Victorian pews, pews that have Pricket Lights on each end, these previously held candles.Bircham Newton All Saints Church, J Barrett a churchwarden for the building in 1859 is cut poignantly into the end of an original pew. Those made so as to keep the parishioner warm and free from draughts. Though only small (actually one of the smallest in the county, this church is quaint. It's font beautiful. Included in the Domesday Book of 1087, there appeared to be a church on this site. For most of the church though it is 13th century, it has a Norman font. churchesofnorfolk.com by the Old Boi
