Sandringham Saint Mary Magdalene.
Only a short journey from me, this beautiful church both inside and out has the distinction of being a church at Christmas that sees the Queen and some of the Royal family as a visitor. With an outside that is built of Norfolk carrstone, and displays an Angel were a Saint would normally stand. She has a baby, but the wings distinguish her! The church holds a record for the first Rector of Sandringham as one Robertus Algar de Akenham, this was 1321 and given the job by Westacre priory. Inside stands a pulpit that was presented to Queen Alexandra on the occasion of her 80th birthday in December 1924. The pulpit was actually dedicated in October 1924 and is partly of solid silver. The church has two fonts, one inside that was given to King Edward VII, its called a baptistry where it stands and another outside without pedestal. It is a Greek font outside the west end of the church, it was brought back from Rhodes and is said to be 11 hundred years old.
