Barningham Norwood Saint Peter and Saint Paul Church



Barningham Norwood Church, Square west tower, 1 bell, nave with north aisle, chancel and porch. The style is a mixture of late Decorated and Perpendicular. There are three fine monuments to Sir Austin Palgrave, Knight, died 1720 and his family. There is also a very fine double figured brass to members of that family. Also tablets to the Barningham and Hethersett Families. 14th century arcade, modern roofs and chairs, a late Stuart pulpit, a few pieces of old bench ends and a Stuart table. The fine monuments, one with a brass beside it. There is also in this aisle a pillar piscina. In chancel is the remains of a fine early 14th century sedilia and piscina. But the uncommon thing in this church is the piece of paving in nave which is circular, 56 inches in diameter and has eight traceried panels in stone, radiating from the centre and filled in with red brick.
