Bunwell Saint Michael Church, is situated near the local school, it is 15th century, impressive in width and height with no central pillars. Probably built on the site of an earlier church, its features include: medieval mass dial, war memorial wooden crucifix on high beam; only ordnance bolt on a Norfolk church tower, it has several Angel carvings inside, plus a few screens with gold painted carvings including family motifs. There is a nice wooden lectern that is beautifully carved, and an octagonal font, it has heraldry shield carved it its bowl. and stands on both an octagonal plinth and octagonal pedestal. The timbers of this churches beautiful beamed roof sits firmly on lintels jutting out from each wall, there is a nice wine glass pulpit.Square 15th century west tower with sound holes, 6 bells, 32' 3" wide nave covered with an arch-braced roof over an arch-braced tie beam, chancel with roof that is a plain arch-brace and south porch. There is also a Stuart table and a large set of Anne's Arms.The font is of Late 14th century with traceried shaft and bowl. The former screen must have been a lofty one as it is 14' to sill of rood loft door. Mainly Perpendicular, work throughout. the porch and battlements to the tower are good examples of flushwork.
