Carleton Rode's All Saint's Church has one of the best displays of rood screens in Norfolk, once having a rood loft, this went when Cromwell's men were made to sign a Solemn League of Covenant to support the Puritans who damaged the screen. depicting 12 apostles this was vandalised, so to the stained glass windows etc; The church and rector at the time were Royalists. Bloomfields history of Norfolk notes that in 1644 the Earl of Manchester ejected the rector. Thomas Stokes for absence, keeping an insufficient curate, observing the rules of the church, refusing to contribute to the rebellion and being an alehouse haunter. The church has 8 Consecration Crosses, a double piscine and a shrine to the USAAF 389 and 453 Bomb Groups of WW2. Mentioned in The Domesday Book of 1086, old documents read as Carleton Rode being Carletuna.  Carleton Rode's All Saint's Churches west tower, south porch, nave, north and south aisles and chancel. 14th century tower with niche under west window. Modern roof and benches. 14th century arcades and window over chancel arch, the east side of the arch being notched for the former tympanic filling. The base of old screen remains with the twelve Apostles in colour. In the nave aisle is a fine Elizabethan table and a 14th century piscina with original credence shelf. The chancel is circa 1300 and the beautiful double piscina is of this date, and the walls have many interesting consecration crosses. Low-side window on south.
