East Rudhams Saint Mary's Church.

East Rudham Saint Mary's Church, This church, largely rebuilt in 1876, has some 1200th evidence in the chancel, it really is a church of all ages, showing 11th/12th/13th/14th/ 15th, 16th, 17th and even 18th century ages. Windows in the clerestory even show additions as late as the 19th century. The church has a Norfolk Flint outside decoration, with blocked brick dressings too. The church has a vaulted roof, 1876 in age and showing a 15th century central boss of The Holt Trinity. The west side has a single round window, octagonal font and pulpit set on an octagonal base. Well worth a visit. East Rudham Saint Mary's Church, West tower, south porch, nave, north and south aisles, south transept and chancel. A large church but all modern roofs and fittings. The 14th century porch is groined with Trinity on central boss. there is a Norman pillar piscina with interlaced cap, and some interesting fragments of alabaster in glass case, amongst them the Coronation of the Virgin. Messent wrote: Square west tower, a clock and 3 bells, nave with aisles, south transept, chancel and south porch. This church exhibits all three periods of Gothic, but in 1873 a very big restoration took place, when some parts were rebuilt, including the tower. the gable close to the south transept is old and of fine workmanship.
