There are two churches in this nice little village in Norfolk, just on the Suffolk border, the roads used to configure an 8, though this has changed and much of the village is one way. The church of Saint Mary's, the newer of the two, stands right in the middle. By newer, this church is in large extent 1275-1375, it was in bad repair and was repaired to what it looks like today in 1834 and in 1862. There is a rood screen, it's highly carved oak, but is partly modern. On the screen are nine carved figures, each playing an instrument. The pews are damaged, this after being mutilated, probably at the same time as the brasses on the floor being removed. The church has a beautiful font and lid. Feltwell Saint Mary's Church, west tower, south porch, nave, south and north aisles and chancel.. Good 14th century tower with pierced parapet and pinnacles, having armourial shields in cuspedf panels. Modern roof and north aisle. Early 14th century sedilia and piscina with graduated seats and curious cinquefoil heads under square label. Fine benches with pierced and traceried backs, and mutilated but interesting grotesques on arm rests. Some with figures and the sentry box group as at near-by-Wilton.
