Framingham Pigot Saint Andrews Church, Listed on their church programme as one of the most beautiful examples of a Victorian church in the County of Norfolk, this did not disappoint, from the moment i saw the spire extending past the nearby trees, I was taken in. I parked in the large disabled friendly car park and started immediately taking pictures. Built in 1859, on a site of a small late Saxon church, this had fallen into disrepair. George Henry Christie of the famous London Auction House family paid for this venture. Mr Christie died 1887, became the village squire on marrying one Francis Taylor, who in turn inherited the estates for Framingham Pigot from her father. Pevsner stated that the architect was Robert Kerr. It contains much masonry decorated with flowers, and him and her, probably the donors, and traditional oak pews with carvings of fruit, foliage and flowers, there are heads, of humans and animals here too. The organ is a rarity, and especially made for the church by George Maidwell Holdich in 1859. The church of Framingham Pigot Saint Andrews Church had a beautiful font, nave, chancel, and south porch, tower and spire (112 feet high) at the north west angle, it contains a clock and 3 bells. Messent wrote it had polished Cornish marble shafts to the doorways and a fine carving over the west doorway representing Saint Andrew, who the church is dedicated to. Framingham Pigot Saint Andrews Church, near Norwich, nave, chancel and south porch, tower and spire 122 feet high, at the north-west angle, containing a clock and 3 bells. This church has been entirely rebuilt in the early Decorated style at the sole expense of the late George Henry Christie, esq., JP and of the Christies Auctioneers family. He died in 1887. There is much beautiful work in it, including polished Cornish marble shafts to the doorways, and a fine carving ver the doorway representing Andrew on the west side.
