Hoveton, Saint John's Church, NR12-8RL, Hoveton church, looks at first a quite modern looking building, standing on its own high on a busy main road in Norfolk, it is by far from being modern, the inside, is full of beautiful fragments of Norwich made stained glass, rood screens, graffiti, there are some signs even the Saxons were here, the tower now square was once round and fell into dis-repair. the one that makes it look modern was erected in 1765, Not far from Norwich, and close to Wroxham. St John's had a refit in 1890, the stonework of the windows was replaced, the red brick tower originally cost £27 to build in 1765, a tiny amount as in 1949, this cost £392 just to repair! The church incorporates a Stuart Royal Arms board. These are seen at other Norfolk churches and this a splendid specimen. Hoveton, Saint John's Church, NR12-8RL, south porch and nave, this little church is entirely thatched and was rebuilt in 1624, and is only 40' x 18' 9". Modern roofs and benches, nine hatchments, Jacobean pulpit. near Wroxham, square west tower of brick, 1 bell, nave, chancel and north porch. The nave is transitional Decorated and Perpendicular, the chancel somewhat earlier. The tower was rebuilt in 1765. The stained glass in the east window dates from 1845, and is a memorial to the late Rev. T.C. Blofeld. There is also some ancient stained glass.
