Ingworth, Saint Lawrence Church, Sitting in a hill, this beautiful little church with its thatched roofs and south porch, nave, and chancel looks like every church should, there is a base to what was a Norman tower, now short and stout and what could be used as a living quarters. It is fitted out with a beautiful timber rafted roof. And is reached by a flight of stairs. There is a good 15th century font with worked shaft having quatrefoils and carved corona. Cautley had a suspicion that there was once a Seven Sacrament Font. There is a parvise with a beautiful ceiling above the porch, this is reached via a stairs set into the west wall. There is a base of a 15th century screen with Jacobean top, all painted brown and a curious drain to piscina. There is also an excellent set of carved William III Arms. Ingworth, Saint Lawrence Church, south porch, nave and chancel, there is the base of a Norman round tower and the whole of the church is thatched. A good 15th century font with nicely worked shaft having quatrefoils and carved corona. I have a suspicioon that this was once a Seven Sacrament font. Parvise over porch and a curious arrangement of the stairs approaching it, which are continued over an exrenal arch to give access to tower. Modern roofs, the base of a 15th century screen with Jacobean top.
