Builders were in at Mulbarton Saint Mary Magdalene Church when I called. They were doing repairs to the wall of the north aisle, something that did need repairing again was the font. It had two huge cracks in it and had already a strap holding it together. The church is approximately a thousand years old. The chancel windows are of the Decorated Period. Mulbarton Saint Mary's church has a decorated west tower and nave, a Perpendicular Period, chancel and north aisle of 1875, also at Mulbarton is an octagonal font, this heavily strapped and due for repair, replacement.Square west tower, 5 bells, nave with north aisle, but no clerestory, chancel and south porch. The style is mainly late Decorated, with some Perpendicular insertions including the porch. The north aisle and vestry were added in 1875. This church was built by Sir William de Hoo, a great soldier who died in 1410. There are several memorials, including one to the Rich family, 1651. Another to Mrs Sarah Scargill, died 1680. This tablet is a curious one made of copper. There are other memorials to Gay, Norris, Balls, Lang and the Spurgeon families. Two of the chancel windows have beautiful ancient stained glass in them. The organ is built or constructed by Norman & Beard Ltd of London.
