Under going repairs when I went to North Tuddenham's Saint Mary Church, with its west tower being repaired, north porch, nave and chancel. The porch has a chamber over it (parvise) and the tower is 14th century, There is a scratch dial too, The roofs are modern. Four painted panels in the tower screen and 15th century font. The base of the 15th century screen remains with eight painted panels, from north they represent Saint Agnes, Saint Gregory, Saint Dorothy, Saint Geron, Saint Catherine, Saint Edmund, Saint Etheldreda and Saint Roche. Traces of original colour on all. The altar in south east nave is made up with old bits of screen work. A nice collecting shoe inscribed on the front "Let not thine hande be open when ye shouldest receive, nor shut when ye shouldest geve". On the back is the verse from Proverbs. 19.17. Apparently there is a considerable amount of ancient glass belonging to this church, but so it was removed when I visited it. (H.Munro Cautley).
