Rockland Saint Peter's Church.

Rockland Saint Peter's Church, has a west round tower, south porch, nave and chancel. This church is chiefly interesting from the Saxon round tower with windows 30ft up and has an abbreviated octagonal top with no parapet. The tower stairs are housed in a curious excrescence on the south side going up to the belfry storey only. There is a scratch dial on the south transept. The nave and transepts are thatched. Inside the roofs and benches are modern and the chancel has been rebuilt. The transepts are only 3'6" deep, and the nave roof is continued over them as a lean-to. the rood loft stairs are in north transept. The south door of the nave has a draw-bar let into the walls. Remains of a simple screen at west end of the church. A large 14th century octagonal font, no less than 3' across, has traceried bowl and shaft. There is a Stuart table in the vestry. One of four churches in Rockland, they are: this one Saint Peters, others include, Saint Mary, ruin, and All Saints still a church and the ruins of Saint Andrews. .
