Messent mentions Shotesham Saint Marys Church as having a square west tower, 1 bell,nave,chancel and south porch. Mainly in the late Decorated style. There is some rather unusual tracery of that period in the South nave windows. Mush restoration took place in 1881 at the expense of the late Robert Fellowes Esq. Shotesham, Saint Mary Church, west tower, south porch, nave and chancel. Modern roof and fittings. Traditional font, Sanctus bell turret, a good brass to Edward and Elizabeth Whyte, 1528, and the Arms of William IV dated 1834. The ruined church of Saint Martin stands only a hundred yards south of this church and has a banner stave locker in the still standing tower.
