Sisland Saint Mary's Church, I spoke to an elderly lady from Hecklington, I asked what her favourite church in the area was, she said that in her youth, she and friends used to walk to Sisland to have a drink. I hope she was old enough! The church she remembered passing was Sisland Saint Mary's Church, it held a fond part in her heart. A beautiful looking building, it has a square west tower of timber with a small spire, this very unusual. It has nave, chancel, and remains of north-eastern side chapel. It is mainly in the early Decorated style. The nave runs back west to the west wall of the tower, thus enclosing it on three sides. The nave and chancel are continuous under one roof. The church is entirely thatched, typical font and Stuart table.
