Stanfield Saint Margaret Church NR20 4AP

Stanfield Saint Margaret Church, near North Elmham, square west tower, 4 bells, nave, chancel and south porch. It is mainly in the decorated style with some later insertions. The east window has some beautiful tracery on it. The ancient rood screen remains and there are some poppy-headed benches. West tower, south porch, nave and chancel, simple arch-braced roof to nave, Jacobean cover to plain font and pulpit of the same date with back board and canopy. The benches have poppy heads and arm rests with grotesques, and there is a square headed screen. There the south windows outside are interesting, they are square headed 15th century and have the hood mould going straight across the top and terminated with angels and heads. A beautiful little church, well worth a visit. Alas no tiolet as yet in 2019.
