Stody Saint Mary's Church, has an unusual font for a Norfolk church, ordinary in the way it is octagonal, there are many octagonal fonts, what makes this one different is its bowl standing on 9 pedestals, these themselves standing on an octagonal base. It has a wooden font cover, The pulpit is wooden, well carved, the church layout of the pews are normal, some with poppy heads, most without. There is a holy water stoup, piscina and a lovely sedilia. Hight light is the Saxon/Norman round tower. Stody Saint Mary Church, near Melton Constable, has: Round west tower, 1 bell, nave, north and south transepts, chancel and south porch. The base of the tower is Norman, but 14th century above, The chancel is early Decorated, but the rest is Perpendicular with some good windows of that period. There is a mural memorial to Rev. Josiah Flavell, late rector, died 1848. The large octagonal font is of much interest standing as described above. There is some ancient stained glass in some of the windows. Stody Saint Mary's Church, Cautley wrote: west tower, south porch, nave, north and south transepts and chancel. The round tower is probably Norman, but it has stratified masonary and may be earlier. In the 15th century it was heightened, but they retained the circular shape which is slighty unusual. The roof is interesting, it is carried right through to the east end, and intersects with similar roofs in the transepts, and the intersections are marked by cross vaulting. there is a 13th century purbeck marbel octagonal font with shallow arches on bowl. Large 15th century windows with good 15th century figures in tracery lights on north side and fragments in the east windows and north transept.
