Stow Bedon, Saint Botolph Church,

Stow Bedon Saint Botolph Church, I am reliably informed it's pronounced Beadon. A church where community life takes place. It retains its traditional roods, but without many its traditional pews, its a local church that covers both Stow Bedon and Lower Stow Bedon villages. Dedicated to Saint Botolph living around the 8th century, and holds a yearly St Botolphs Day in my own town of Downham Market, dedicated to horses. Why the church stands so remote is a mystery.West porch, nave, and chancel, Cautley wrote: this terribly treated church is rapidly falling into ruins. The only things of interest are an old stone mensa and Arms of George III. Western bell-turret, 1 bell, nave, chancel and west porch. The inside of the church is now bare, with as with the way many churches are going (I, and many thank this wrong) The chancel is Early English and the nave Decorated. The east window is also of this style. There is a fine rood screen. Several of the internal fittings are modern. Three sepulchral slabs, which at one time laid in the churchyard, are now preserved in chancel. They all bear floriated crosses.
