Thurning Church, a beautiful church that seemed to be the hub of the area once, there are several labelled boxes for the highest and lowest in society. Names such as: Lime Tree Farm, Roundabout Farm, Manor Farm and Craymere Farm, and lesser boxes for Servants and Footmen. Being disabled I am sure I would have been in the local Workhouse, and on doing a family tree found a photo relating to one Boldero working as a "Bird Scarer", below on a Gressenhall Museum, once a workhouse, wall. Really no one should look down on someone unless helping the other fellow up. The church has one left of a few Triple Decker Pulpits that have survived in Norfolk. This one designed by Sir James Burrough (b1681 and d1764) a famous amateur architect in Cambridge.Thurning, near Reepham, has a square west tower, a clock and 1 bell, nave with north aisle but no clerestory, chancel and south porch. This church is mainly in the Decorated style, there is a fine three-decker pulpit. The chancel has been transferred to the east end of the nave. There is a person commemorated memorial to Caleb Elwin by sculptor E. Holl. Plus one to Mrs Elizabeth Wake c 1759 by sculptor W. Tyler, (London, a foundation R.A.).
