Thuxton, Saint Paul Church,

Thuxton Saint Paul Church, Messent says Thuxton church has a square west tower with small octagonal top and pyramid roof, 1 bell, nave, chancel and north porch. All three periods of Gothic architecture are to be found in this church. There are some early brasses, one to John Futter dated 1572 and another to Gregory Pagrave, died 1578 and other members of that family. The font is very ancient and of interest, but the pillars which support it are much later. Thuxton, Saint Paul Church, west tower, north porch, nave and chancel. The base of the font is modern, but the circular bowl is Norman, with four curious carved projections at the base of bowl. The arches and piers of a former south aisle appear in south wall of nave.  Good Jacobean pulpit. The square tower finishes with what looks like the beginning of a broach spire, and thence continues as an octagon.
