Walcott All Saints Church, near North Walsham, square west tower, 5 bells, nave, chancel and south porch. the chancel is is Decorated, the rest mainly Perpendicular. the restored rood screen remains. There is a fine sedilia in the chancel. The carved font is of interest. there is said to be as many as eighty-two members of the Siely family buried in their vault beneath this church. There are several mural tablets. west tower, south porch, nave and chancel. Nice 15th century tower with flush panelled base course, parapet and sound holes. The turret stairs are contained in a curious V shaped projection going up to battlements on south side. Typical 13th century Purbeck marble font, an unusual type of chest and modern roofs and benches. The nave has lofty 15th century windows and a much restored screen with considerable remains of 15th century work on it. It is square headed with deeply traceried head having little quatrefoils across the centre of the tracery. Very nice sedilia and piscina with clustered columns and multi-foiled arch under square label. My favourite item in the church is a 1920s brass lectern. in the church can be purchased a small book containing poems by local lady Margaret Luckett, its called "Aisle of Refections", please make sure you get one as all the proceeds go to the Walcott Church Funds.

Recommendation, just yards from the church is The Lighthouse Inn, what a lovely, reasonable, friendly establishment, they cater for patrons to the inn, are open all day, every day for both food and drink. They can be contacted on Tel: (01692) 650371 or veiwed at www.lighthouseinn.co.uk
