Welborne All Saints Church NR20 3LQ

Welborne All Saints Church has just undergone a new work which has taken the best part of a year. With interest I have travelled to this church on no less than four separate occasions. My interest in the church is that I used to Metal Detect on Mr Graham Faircloth's adjoining farm land. I always stood and awed at the Round Tower on the church. This unusual as it has a conical roof. The tower built around the late 13th century, or early 14th century onto an earlier nave, dating back to Saxon times. The church has some really beautiful items, it is well worth yet another visit when the builders have totally gone. There are beautiful carvings, a reredos, and a rood screen. Welborne All Saints Church, near Matishall, round west tower with pyramidal roof, 1 bell, nave, chancel and south porch. The tower is late Norman. The nave walls are late 13th century with later windows inserted. The the chancel rebuilt in 1875. The rood screen remains. There is a memorial to the Tinkler family. This parish has a Retreat House for clergy and church workers in connection with the rectory.
