Thank you Kelly Boldero for inviting me to your Website on the very interesting subject of Norfolk Churches. I found information on the Strike school at Burston
which I had inquired about on your Facebook page. Enjoyed reading about the ruined Churches of Norfolk particularly St Edmunds at Hunstanton.
There are lots of articles I still want to look at so I will be back soon, Audrey Winter from Clenchwarton signing out at 22.47, (TY)

Gillian Hanson. 14.09 7/9/2018. How lovely to be able to see such lovely pictures and detail of Hilgay Church. I found it quite emotional to see where my Grandmother

Lily May Cox would have been baptised, and also her line going back to Amariah Cox born around 1730s. (TY)

Well done, fabulous idea and website - Helen Parker-Drabble helenparkerdrabble.com 8.9.18 11.39am.

I'd like to use your fabulous Angel image in my upcoming book please. How should I acknowledge you please?

(Hi Helen, if you just mention https:churchesofnorfolk.com/ this will suffice, and thank you for your kind words).

Ron from Australia: lovely photographs of churches connected to my ancestors. They are better than the ones I took in 2015 😊. When I visited St George, Hindolveston, I learnt that when they built the new church they used as much of the old church as possible. So while it's still a 'newish" church it still contains much that is old. Well done, and good luck with your recovery, (TY)

Nice site, Kelly - a tiny bit hard to navigate, but some wonderful info and photos. Well done. Chris Pope. pope.c.cola@gmail.com 1021pm 17/10/2018.

TY Chris, I thought that myself, so started up the A-Z List of churches in Norfolk page. You can now just go to the one page, press the small link on the end of the church title and go there direct.

Since writing this, it seems like minutes, I will annouch that Chris Pope has died. I was fortunate to be able to attend his funeral. Chris arrived in a village hall to the sounds of the Circus Procession, It was not conventional, made all of us there laugh and cry. Chris was buried in a Green Field, and the last song to be played was Burning Love. R.I.P.

I am sorry that you consider St. Peter's Church Swainsthorpe "is nothing but a glorified village hall". If I might say that this is an insult to the many of of us who have worked tirelessly to raise money to restore this ancient church in order that it can be enjoyed by the whole community. You made no reference to the many improvements which those that worship here and those that enjoy the many social events that take place here enjoy. There is no other community facility in our small village and our church, having been saved from being made redundant, is now the hub of our village. Because we opened our doors to all we have found that our congregations have increased, we have been able to pay our parish share in full each year. You visited at time when the last phase of our restoration was in progress and I am pleased to say that the interior of our church has now been re-plastered where necessary and lime washed throughout. Yes the pews were removed as part of our re-ordering in 2012 but they have been replaced by very comfortable chairs and we are able to seat up to 60 people. You might care to take a look at the Norwich Cathedral and many other churches where chairs have replaced pews not only for the comfort but the flexibility of space this arrangement offers. We are a small village with a small medieval church and we have found a way of reaching out to the local community for both worship and community events and on some occasions combining both. Our community are not afraid to walk up the path and enter our church where previously there may have been a resistance. I ask you to look again at St. Peter's with a more open mind and an understanding of what we are trying to do in our small village for the local community. Think of that when you come again and feel the new atmosphere inside this wonderful small church. I would be happy to meet you when next you visit. David 01508470519.

Hello David, It seems I have attracted you to my site of churchesofnorfolk.com. Thank you for taking time in writting. I am sorry if I have offended you or anyone in my plight of getting around all the churches in Norfolk, but am not going to say what I didn't believe on my trip to the churches I visit.  1st There was no mention on the church sign board about the church being closed. One had to venture down to the church to find that out. But this I did. Including the return of key, 4 trips,
I do remember the lady being very polite. She even got me a glass of water as it was such a hot day! She did mention that the inside fittings had been taken out and alterations done to turn the property into, what you say now is the hub or the village.
The history of the church being ripped out to make it more of a viable concern. I did say at the time that I personally hate that happening and wondered if I should in fact bother.
I did mention that almost every historical feature was covered up. They were. I have added them to the site.
Messent, mentioned: something of what I expected to see: Near Norwich, round west tower with octagonal upper storey, (plus) 4 bells, nave with north aisle, chancel and south porch. The base of the tower is Norman, but much later above, The rest of the church exhibits all three periods of Gothic, most of the windows being Perpendicular insertions.  The south porch was rebuilt in 1885. There is a fine carved hammer-beam roof to the nave. (plus) The font is Norman and of interest. The outside of the building is fantastic. The inside, how I described. But sorry for speaking as I saw! You gave a telephone to ring. I'm deaf! People are easily offended! But I may be back. Kelly.
